Overview:
Aviation Safety Management encompasses a comprehensive framework of processes and tools designed to systematically manage safety within the aviation sector. While the concept of safety management isn't new and has roots in various industries long before the advent of flight, its application in aviation has evolved significantly.
Most aviation service providers implement measures to mitigate risks to an acceptable threshold. Each operator possesses a "Safety Management System" (SMS); however, when we discuss aviation SMS, we refer to structured methodologies and formal processes that ensure effective safety management.
This Aviation Safety Management course introduces participants to the principles of aviation safety management, grounded in the standards and recommended practices set forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). By the end of the course, attendees will be equipped with the competencies necessary to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate a foundational Aviation Safety Management system.
Program Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the Aviation Safety Management training course, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the essential principles of Safety Management Systems (SMS) as outlined by ICAO, the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), and Transport Canada.
- Employ effective techniques for identifying, quantifying, and managing hazards and risks in aviation operations.
- Critically evaluate methods for cultivating and enhancing a robust safety culture, including the impact of leadership, organizational structure, and reporting mechanisms.
- Utilize various metrics and indicators to assess and measure safety performance effectively.
